What they needed
Group trips get planned in a group chat and a shared spreadsheet, and neither one knows about time zones. Every arrival time gets converted by hand, and when people fly in on different routes and leave on different days, nobody can see the whole plan in one place.
What I built
It started as a page I built for one trip, which six people used across Prague, Croatia and Dublin in August 2026. Tripcrew is that page rebuilt as an app anyone can use, in React Native with Expo, running on Android and the web from one codebase on Firebase. You enter a flight as two airports and two local times, and the app works out how long you are in the air, how long the connection is and whether you land the next day. One trip can hold several groups whose routes overlap, so people who arrive late or leave early each see their own dates and countdown. Once a trip has synced it opens with no signal. Editing needs a connection, and the app says so instead of pretending to save. It is also the first app on my own starter kit for Expo and Firebase, which now gives every app after it working sign-in and the account deletion Google Play requires.

What it does now
Inside the app
Captured from Tripcrew itself, signed in to the sample trip that comes with the app. The travelers' names are made up; every screen is the real app.
